FAQ’s
How do I apply for a Habitat home?

Please click on the “The Process” tab at the top of the page for more information.

How Long Before I Move Into My Habitat Home?

From the time a family is selected to move-in varies, but typically, it is one to two years.  A Habitat homeowner is not assigned a house location until they have completed their sweat equity hours. Move-in does not take place until all construction is completed and all inspections are passed.  The keys are presented at a dedication ceremony only after the Certificate of Occupancy is awarded.

What About Closing Cost And Down Payments?

The homeowner has the option of paying any closing costs or down payment expenses at the time of closing, or including the expenses in the total amount of the monthly mortgage payment.

Do I Have A Say In Where My House Will Be Built?

Habitat homes are built at locations made available to us either by a donation or where the purchase of land is within the allocated budget. The homeowner will be given a choice of properties to the extent possible, but there is no guarantee where the home will be located.

How Can I Volunteer?

What items can I donate to the ReStore?

The ReStore accepts construction materials such as toilets, windows, doors, cabinets, latex paint (at least half full), trim, lights, etc. .  .  We cannot accept mattresses, oil based paint, or hazardous materials.  All items should be in good condition.  We are limited on space resulting in limiting the furniture we can accept.  We reserve the right to refuse a donation at delivery.  See the “ReStore” tab at the top of the page for more information.
